Scottish Council of Independent Schools (SCIS)

Reports and publications, produced by SCIS, are issued to member schools to keep them up-to-date on legal and regulatory issues. Schools also benefit from a programme of Continuing Professional Development for all school staff, both teaching and non-teaching, with workshops, seminars and conferences running every day of the school year. CPD is charged at not-for-profit rates and courses are open to non-member schools including local authority schools. SCIS also commissions projects, undertakes research and disseminates information both within and about the independent sector.

The views and interests of both mainstream and special schools are represented by SCIS to the Scottish Government, Ministers and MSPs, public bodies and education consultative groups throughout Scotland and beyond. SCIS also represents the independent education sector on numerous working groups and at national conferences and educational events.
