A new British Standard, BS 8848: a specification for visits, fieldwork, expeditions and adventurous activities outside the UK was published last year.
This Workshop is designed to assist those organisations wishing to use BS 8848 to benchmark existing safety management systems within their organisations, and the evidence required to make a claim of compliance with the new British Standard.
The Workshop, run by Shane Winser of the Royal Geographical Society, will provide details on:
- What BS 884 conformity means
- Understanding the key concepts and requirements of BS 8848
- Evidence required to make a claim of compliance with the new British Standard
- The role of Third party providers in BS 884 compliance
- What protection does BS 8848 provide consumers/parents/organisations?
Pre-Workshop requirements:
It is strongly recommended that all attending the Workshop become acquainted with BS 884 before the meeting. Copies of the Standard are available as .pdf download from BSI: www.bsi-global.com/BS8848
