The morning session will be led by staff from SCILT and will include two workshops:
Curriculum for Excellence one year on – looking back to move forward
This
workshop aims to explore how last session’s plans worked out, which revisions
you are making/planning to make, and how S2 courses are shaping up.
We will also look at strategies for gathering and recording evidence, together with criteria you have developed within your department to aid consistency.
The “BCA” of Assessment
How can
Modern Languages teachers develop assessment approaches that reflect breadth,
challenge and application of learning and generate good quality evidence?
This workshop will discuss a range of ways in which this can be achieved.
The
afternoon will be led by Kathleen
McCormick, SQA Qualifications Development Manager for Languages.
New Qualifications
Following
the publication of the final versions of all documents in April 2012, the
session will provide an excellent opportunity for an update and Q&A
session.
Quality Assurance
and Cluster Groups
In
preparation for the Quality Assurance model proposed for the new qualifications
which will rely on nominations from SCIS schools and the dissemination of
information through cluster groups, there will be time for open discussion on
how this will work in practice.
The day will provide an excellent opportunity for networking and discussion and all Modern Languages teachers are warmly invited to attend.
Please register by 25 April
