One click wonders: using online tools to promote your school's strengths
Tuesday 24 November 2009
Location: Stuart Lockhart Suite, George Watson's College (Senior School building), 69 Colinton Road, Edinburgh EH10 5EG (location map)
9 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Coffee & Registration from 8.45 a.m.
The workshop is aimed at school staff with responsibility for admissions, marketing and development who may have limited prior experience of using research and online tools to help with catchment area analysis and promoting the school's strengths.
The workshop will guide you through the three SCIS research toolkits and allow you to produce information and analysis relevant to your own school. The day will be split into three sessions. You can choose whether to attend one, two or all of the sessions. The cost will be the same however many sessions you attend.
- Session 1: how to organise and run focus groups;
- Session 2: understanding your school's catchment area;
- Session 3: making the most of data for monitoring the school's progress and promoting its strengths.
By the end of the day you should have a good practical understanding of:
1. when, why and how to gather evidence using focus groups and how to write up and disseminate persuasive findings;
2. how to identify potential customers for a new nursery department; candidates for financial assistance or major donors in the school's catchment area;
3. how to monitor progress and marshal powerful evidence of school performance using information on exam results, class sizes, pupil-teacher ratios and school leaver destinations.
(Stuart Lockhart Suite is in the Senior School building.)
Estimated cost per delegate: £15
