This year's workshop will be led by one of the tutors at the Leith School of Art and will focus on Printmaking.
The course will cover simple printmaking techniques that could be used in a primary classroom setting. Some techniques would require basic equipment (small presses, basic wooden silk screens). Artists will be used as a source of inspiration.
1. Collograph where a ‘block' is made up from collaged elements (paper, card, fabric, string etc) and then inked up and printed using a press. Artists studied will include European 20th Century artists Max Ernst who used frottage and texture to create images and Paul Klee who built up images in a series of small textured segments.
2. Monoprinting where a plate is inked up in a variety of different ways and then printed, using either a press or by hand. Artists will include Scottish artists such as Kate Downie and Barbara Rae who have used monoprinting.
All junior classroom teachers with an interest in art, together with primary art specialists, are warmly invited to attend.
Numbers are limited to 16 and so early registration is strongly recommended.
