Information, advice and guidance for Parents

Scottish Council of Independent Schools (SCIS) is the authority on independent, fee-paying (sometimes referred to as 'private') schools in Scotland.

All 75 member schools are well known to SCIS staff which means we are well placed to give parents the best information, advice and guidance on offer.

To remain impartial, we do not recommend one specific school over another, but help parents to narrow down their choice to two or three, based on their children's particular needs and abilities as well as practicalities such as location.

You can use the information on these website pages, download pdf files on various themes, request a copy of our comprehensive directory or telephone us on 0131 556 2316 to discuss your children's requirements.

“SCIS represents 97% of the pupils who are educated at independent schools in Scotland.”
