Course Description

The morning session will be led by Mike Gershon, an educational consultant - http://mikegershon.com/.

Mike has delivered a number of workshops for teaching colleagues and he facilitated an inaugural bespoke workshop for classroom assistants last session which has very well received.  Feedback from the day cited the value and need for more professional learning of this nature.  In response to this, Mike will lead a session full of new content designed to develop skills and abilities of classroom assistants. He is the author of over 30 books on learning and teaching and is the creator of two bestselling online courses, covering outstanding teaching and growth mindsets, in conjunction with the 2016 BETT award-winning TES Institute.  His most recent work has a focus on classroom assistants.

Mike will explore two themes with participants:

Session One - Maximising Your Impact: Strategies and Techniques to Support Your Learners

Session Two - Building Rapport and Fostering Independence

In the afternoon, we are delighted to have secured Claire Lavelle, Founder and Managing Director of The Hive of Wellbeing to deliver a workshop tailored for classroom assistants.  Claire has over twenty years’ experience in education.  The Hive aims to support a range of colleagues in getting into a “better-feeling place” by using coaching for performance principles, positive psychology approaches and self-efficacy theory.

The day also provides a valuable opportunity to network with other classroom assistants and all junior school classroom assistants are warmly invited to attend.
