We are delighted that Carol Craig, founder and CEO at The Centre for Confidence and Wellbeing will deliver an opening keynote. Carol is author of The Scots' Crisis of Confidence, Creating Confidence: A Handbook for Professionals Working with Young People, The Tears that Made the Clyde: Well-being in Glasgow and The Great Takeover: How materialism, the media and markets now dominate our lives. She is Commissioning editor for the Postcards from Scotland series. Carol blogs on confidence, well-being, inequality, everyday life and some of the great challenges of our time.

 Following this, he day will then be comprised of  workshops and presentations: 

  • Mindfulness: Elaine Bradley will lead a session focussing on exploring mindfulness for students and staff in schools.  Elaine will be accompanied by Jan Penrose (University of Edinburgh) and colleagues from SCIS schools who have implemented mindfulness programmes into their contexts.
  • Mental Health: Laura Sharpe, Children and Young People's Officer See Me Scotland will lead a session on the work of See Me. See Me is Scotland's national programme to end mental health stigma and discrimination. They operate a rights based approach to their work and Laura will share some of the work and resources including the highly acclaimed It's ok campaign
  • Teenage Cancer Trust: Alana Robinson Education and Awareness Executive at Teenage Cancer Trust will share resources and support for schools.  Alana will be accompanied by colleagues who have implemented Teenage Cancer Trust programmes into their schools.
  • Sharing of Good Practice: Colleagues will share their approaches to Health and Wellbeing in their schools.
