Outdoor Education Conference - course postponed

This year’s weekend conference will run 8/9 April 2017. The weekend is catered, accommodated and run from Lathallan School, and will feature different discipline coaching and development training provided by some of Scotland’s top instructors.

 ** When registering, delegates should express preferences regarding which training they wish to attend.You should choose one option for two days to allow progression in discipline   Use the column 'other requirements' to enter option number.

There will be a formal dinner with wine on the Saturday evening, with Shaun Roberts, Principal, The National Mountain Centre, Glenmore Lodge as the speaker.

Course options: 

  1. 2-day paddlesport coaching run on Lower Esk by Giles Trussell MIC Level 5 Paddlesport instructor at The National Mountain Centre for the last 11 years of a 27 year career in the industry.  6  PLACES
  2. 2 day mountain bike coaching run by Jules Fincham MIC IML British CyclingTutor who works out of Cameron Barracks with the British armed forces delivering MTB foundation courses.  6  PLACES
  3. 2 day navigation instruction including the NNAS Tutors’ course (1 day) run by Nigel Williams who holds the MIC, IML, NNAS Tutors Course Director and BASI 2. Currently Head of Training at the National Mountain Centre.  8  PLACES
  4. 2 day ML(S) refresher course aimed at those yet to complete or interested in the Mountain Leader Summer Qualification.  Run by Ian Stewart who holds the MIC, NNAS Tutors Course Director and is a course director for ML(S) training & assessments, & assisted by L Malone who has completed the ML(S) assessment.    6   PLACES
  5. 2 day intro to multi pitch climbing/scrambling aimed at developing further skills towards MIA.  Delivered by James Woodhouse and Jess Ridgway. James holds the MIC, NNAS Tutors Course Director and is a course director of both ML(S) training and assessment. Jess is a keen climber, summer and winter, and holds the Mountaineering Instructor Award, and Mountain Leader Winter.    4  PLACES 
  6.  we have the opportunity to complete the Go Mountainbike course on the Saturday. Once completed participants will be able to run the Go Mountainbike award in their own schools. This is open for all those who have a MBLA 2 or equivalent award. To arrange this training we need to know now if you wish to take part as there is an element of pre- course registration required.

 Early registration required for all orkshops as numbers require to ensure availability  - please register ASAP

Delegates can arrive from 18.00 onwards on 7 April.   There will be a meeting with instructors at 20.00 on 7 April.   Accommodation is available on the Friday and Saturday nights only.   

All will be required to leave the accommodation by 09.30 on Sunday 9 April 2017.
