Cancellation and refund policy

  • Cancellations must be advised in writing/email 6 days prior to the event.
  • We welcome substitute delegates attending in your place at no additional cost.
  • A refund will not be granted if a registrant fails to attend or cancels within 6 days prior to the event.
  • For residential courses cancellation must be advised 28 days prior to the event.

Course Description

We are delighted that St Margaret’s School for Girls, Aberdeen  will be hosting this Geography Conference.  The day will be split into two sessions:


Session One


“Land use conflicts in a coastal environment” 

Annabel Drysdale, Reserve Manager, Forvie Nature Reserve, Aberdeenshire


“Tourism conflict and management” 

Victoria Ellis, Seasonal Visitor Services Officer, Haddo House and Country Park, Aberdeenshire ( Victoria is a former Head of Geography in an independent school in Yorkshire)


Geography teacher - “popcorn”session



Session Two


Visit  to the Hutton Institute to see and hear about the soil archive of Scotland

Soil / land use talk by an expert at the Hutton Institute in their Virtual Reality Theatre




Representatives from Robert Gordon University and Aberdeen University Geography Department will be present at coffee and lunch break to offer general and individual advice, help, information, leaflets about geography related courses available in Aberdeen.

There is plenty of free parking available at “field” for cars and minibuses should some of you wish to travel together. For those coming by train the number 23 bus passes along Union Street and very near to field. It may also be possible for some of our local SCIS colleagues to pick up a few people from the station (with prior arrangement) and provide transport to the Hutton Institute.

For non members, please complete the name and address of your school for invoicing, or personal address if self-funding. Self-funding applicants are required to pay in advance. Non members will be invoiced before attending a course.
