  • Cancellations must be advised in writing/email 6 days prior to the event.
  • We welcome substitute delegates attending in your place at no additional cost.
  • A refund will not be granted if a registrant fails to attend or cancels within 6 days prior to the event.
  • For residential courses cancellation must be advised 28 days prior to the event.

Course Description

for Junior and Senior School Support for Learning staff

This year’s Conference has a number of themes which have been tailored to provide professional learning opportunities for all teachers working in the Support for Learning context. 

Our Conference falls in Dyslexia Awareness week -  It is fitting that we have secured Fran Ranaldi, Development Officer – Dyslexia and Inclusive Practice,  Inclusion and Equalities Education Scotland.  Fran will lead a session on National Perspectives on Dyslexia and Inclusive Practice.  This session will include the national strategy and an interactive workshop. 

We are delighted to welcome Dr Anne Margaret Smith to Scotland.  Anne Margaret is the founder of ELT well - and will lead a session on Assessing Multilingual Learners. 

Jude Philip, Independent Speech and Language Therapist will lead a session on Developmental Language Disorder.  Jude will demystify what the disorder is, causes and challenges and support mechanisms. 

The day will conclude with a workshop delivered   by  Richard Walsh (AfBPS, CPsychol., Registered Psychologist).  Rick will provide an Introduction to Positive Psychology and Character Strengths.  Participants will have the opportunity to learn how to identify character strengths in themselves and others, and   how these can be applied to aid educational, social, emotional, and behavioural development. This will include a short on-line questionnaire – instructions will be sent to delegates prior to the event. 

Please register as soon as possible and by 27 October at the latest.  Instructions for the online tool will be sent out week commencing 30 October.
