Scottish Council of Independent Schools (SCIS)

The Scottish Government has published Scotland's Science Facts Leaflet.

‘Science, engineering and technology impact on almost every aspect of our lives and are vital for the future well-being of our planet. Science will allow us all to have a healthier, more environmentally and economically sustainable future.

Scotland has an enviable legacy of invention and discovery - from James Watt and Lord Kelvin to James Clerk Maxwell and John Logie Baird. Today, Scotland continues to build on its diverse, innovative and well-connected science base where the scientists, engineers and technologists maintain Scotland's global reputation as a world-leading Science Nation.

Scotland is committed to using the strength of its science, engineering and technology base to support innovation and sustainable economic growth but also to address the really big issues which impact on all our daily lives including climate change, provision of sustainable energy, food security and the range of challenges presented by an ageing population.'
