Vacancy Description / Summary

Regius School is an Independent Christian School, situated in Newcraighall (69a Whitehill Street, EH21 8QZ), serving Edinburgh and the Lothians with a current roll of 31 pupils from P1 to S2, organised across three small class groups.

We are looking to appoint an experienced teacher to head up our small school community of learners, teachers and support staff within a Christian context. He or she will work closely with the School Board and existing parents’ groups.

Our school provides a happy, caring and creative environment and a curriculum which inspires, engages and challenges our learners. We affirm the close relationship of home, church and school. Our curriculum policies and procedures have been developed from discussions about how to achieve our school vision that ‘each child will see themselves as God the Father sees them’, and for our children to dream big dreams and be the very best they can be!

Our head teacher will manage the day to day running of the school to the benefit of our pupils and families, ensuring all children flourish and achieve their full potential.

Membership of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups Scheme will be essential on taking up appointment along with GTCS Registration.

About the School

Regius is an independent school for children and young people aged five to fourteen years, P1-S2.

Our aim is to be a centre of educational excellence where each child’s unique identity is recognised and developed, focusing on their individual learning skills and aspirations. We use the Scottish Curriculum for Excellence, having a positive approach to learning and preparing the children to be independent learners. Our strength in Regius is to realise a child’s full potential within a caring Christian context and this, together with having small classes with a high teacher/pupil ratio, produces confident children with high standards of attainment.

In addition, we encourage creativity in the arts. We have specialist teachers in art, dance and movement and music.
