Vacancy Description / Summary
St Mary’s Music School, Edinburgh is seeking to appoint a highly motivated and enthusiastic teacher as sole teacher of Chemistry, to teach pupils in the senior school, from S1 to S6. The successful candidate will have a passion for the subject and will be expected to stimulate interest and enjoyment of chemistry and general science in pupils and promote the subject throughout the school.
In 2018-19 pupils are likely to be presented for National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher Chemistry. The successful candidate will be expected to develop these courses and to link with other departments within the school, contributing to activities such as school trips and excursions for younger pupils.
St Mary’s Music School aims to offer the highest possible standard of education and musical training in an inspiring, inclusive and supportive environment, and all staff are expected to support their pupils and encourage them to achieve of their best. Classes are small and examination results are consistently good.
The successful candidate will work closely with other teaching staff, to share good practice and develop a faculty approach to curricular development.
The post will be part-time, permanent, and commences in late August 2018. An interest in teaching PSE and undertaking pupil support and guidance may be an advantage.

St Mary’s Music School is Scotland’s only independent specialist music school, offering a world-class standard of music and academic education to musically gifted children aged 9-19 years in an inspiring, inclusive and supportive environment. It is also the Choir School of St Mary’s Episcopal Cathedral in Edinburgh.
