Vacancy Description / Summary

Part Time (6-9 hours per week, days and hours to be arranged)

Dunedin School is seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and suitably qualified Support for Learning Teacher on a part-time basis with an initial 1 year contract, beginning in August 2018.

The successful candidate must demonstrate genuine empathy with our pupils. You must work well in a team with colleagues, be flexible and demonstrate initiative.

You will be responsible for providing individual and small group instruction for pupils with additional support needs, which may include Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Dyscalculia, or Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD). You will work closely with subject teachers to determine areas of concern and identify the support needs of each pupil, administering appropriate assessments on a regular basis to provide baseline and progress information. Knowledge of, and a working familiarity with, specialist resources and methods would be an advantage.

As a teacher you will be expected to provide pupil progress reports, departmental reports, policy documents and improvement plans. You will also be expected to be involved in the wider life of the school. The school is run on a collegiate system and all members of staff participate in the day-to-day decision making and longer term planning of the school.

Candidates should be registered with the General Teaching Council Scotland, or be eligible for registration.

All appointments are subject to receipt of a satisfactory PVG Scheme Record or Scheme Record Update from Disclosure Scotland.

The school will be happy to discuss any aspects of the role with interested candidates before formal application is made.

About the School

Dunedin is a second chance school for young people who have not been successful in more mainstream education. It caters for the individual pupil and offers a flexible educational experience.

Many of our pupils are referred to us for social and emotional reasons. Our aim is to help them once again access and enjoy education and to help them achieve qualifications.
