Vacancy Description / Summary
Harmeny Education Trust is a sector leading children’s charity, providing therapeutic care and education for children with complex additional support needs. We work with children of primary up to early secondary stage, both on a day and all-year-round residential basis. The school is situated in a beautiful thirty-five-acre estate, which includes residential and education accommodation, mature woodland, community garden, orchard, wildlife habitats, children’s play areas and a mountain bike track.
We currently have an opportunity for a Class Teacher with recent and significant experience of the lower primary to join our outstanding Education Team to work with children with complex additional support needs. Along with a creative approach to learning and teaching, you will demonstrate a working experience of the Curriculum for Excellence and will have the resilience to work with children who have social, emotional and behavioural needs in a nurturing, sensitive, caring way. This is a full-time post to cover maternity leave, for approximately 18 months.
The successful applicant will be placed appropriately on the current national scale between Point 1 - £27,438 and Point 6 - £36,480. Three school closure days are allocated for additional learning and development required for the specialist therapeutic learning environment Harmeny promotes.

About the School
Our core service – Harmeny School – offers specialist education services, both on a day and all year round residential basis, for children of primary school age up to Secondary 2 stage.
As a Grant Aided Special School, we work with children whose difficulties impact on their social, emotional and behavioural development and give rise to complex Additional Support Needs. We provide services on both a national and regional basis, with children being referred by Local Authorities throughout the whole of Scotland.
The school has capacity for thirty children.
