Vacancy Description / Summary

St Mary’s Music School is seeking to appoint a highly motivated and enthusiastic Teacher of Physical Education, to teach pupils from P5 to S6 in combined year groups from January 2018.

The post is for 1 day per week, currently a Friday.

The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to development planning and to link with other departments within the school. The Teacher of PE will work closely with other teaching staff and will share good practice.

St Mary’s Music School aims to offer the highest possible standard of education and musical training in an inspiring, inclusive and supportive environment, and all staff are expected to support their pupils and encourage them to achieve of their best.


About the School

St Mary’s Music School is Scotland’s only independent specialist music school, offering a world-class standard of music and academic education to musically gifted children aged 9-19 years in an inspiring, inclusive and supportive environment. It is also the Choir School of St Mary’s Episcopal Cathedral in Edinburgh.

It is a co-educational, non-denominational, day and boarding school, with pupils coming from diverse backgrounds and from all parts Scotland, the rest of the UK and beyond. Pupils are supported by the Scottish Government’s Aided Places scheme and by School and Cathedral bursaries. Entry is by audition and assessment, based on musical ability and potential, regardless of personal financial circumstances.

There are currently 80 full-time pupils.
