Vacancy Description / Summary

We seek a capable and enthusiastic individual who will teach a wide range of classes and help to inspire innovative digital thinking in our pupils.

Computing Science forms part of the compulsory core curriculum within the school, with all students following a comprehensive Computing Science course from P7, leading for some to presentation at National 5 in S4. Computing Science is offered at both Higher and Advanced Higher levels in S5 and S6. The successful applicant will be required to teach a full range of courses.

We also provide unique courses in Digital Learning and Innovation for our pupils from P7 to S3. These courses aim to give all Kelvinside pupils the opportunity to learn using the latest digital technology and create innovative leaders of the future. Innovation is supported by our partners at NuVu, the world’s leading innovation school, and the collaboration sees academics from Harvard and MIT work directly with our pupils. Kelvinside Academy opened Scotland’s first School of Innovation in August 2019 and the successful candidate will be able to contribute to this sector leading development.

About the School

From 1 to 18 years, education at Kelvinside Academy is designed to challenge every child to be and do their best in every aspect of life. Excellence in the classroom is non-negotiable, but when educating pupils, teachers won’t stop there.

In a world full of uncertainty and rapid technological advancement, SQA exam grades alone are no longer enough. Intellectual curiosity, a passion for learning, critical thought, resilience and empathy are dispositions required by students to compete in the 21st Century. Our NuVu Innovation School and Highland Wilderness Campus offer pupils unique school experiences that prepare them for the world beyond school.

Pastoral care is at the heart of a Kelvinside education, where the size of our pupil population allows teachers to know every pupil, ensuring a caring and nurturing learning environment. At Kelvinside Academy, the whole child is the whole point.
