Vacancy Description / Summary
Cargilfield is a leading independent IAPS preparatory school in Edinburgh for boys and girls aged 3 to 13.
We are seeking to recruit a dynamic and enthusiastic classicist to become Head of Classics for the start of the Autumn Term 2021.
The ideal candidate will be (or have the potential to be) an outstanding teacher, who is capable of teaching children to Common Entrance and the most demanding scholarship exams. He/she will be prepared to participate fully in the busy life of the school, provide outstanding pastoral care and contribute to the ongoing development of our school. Given Cargilfield’s reputation for excellence in Classics in Scotland and across the U.K., this role might suit an experienced teacher but we would also be happy to consider the right person who is new to teaching but is keen to be trained to a high standard. The majority of teaching is in Latin although a knowledge of Greek would be an advantage.
Cargilfield is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children; applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening, including checks with past employers and PVG.
Given the timing of this advert, there is no closing date for applications and initial notes of interest to the Headmaster (firstname.lastname@example.org) are welcome ahead of a full application.
An application form and job description can be found on the School's website, link below.
