Vacancy Description / Summary
We are seeking to appoint a Teacher of Technology for a maternity cover for a period of 1 term commencing on 17 August and finishing on 17 December 2021.
The successful candidate will hold a relevant teaching qualification and will be confident in the delivery of Engineering Science and Graphic Communication courses up to at least National 5 level. It is recognised, however, that some candidates may not have had the opportunity to teach Engineering Science. Support will be provided for any candidate who is keen to develop their skills in this area.
The Technology Department
There are presently 3 members of staff in this lively and popular Department. The department offers courses in Engineering Science at National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher; and Graphic Communication at National 5 and Higher. Pupils in S2 follow a Technology course for one lesson per week for half the year, during which they design and build a practical electronics project.
Additionally, the department runs several extra-curricular clubs and is developing a small ‘maker space’ to provide a facility for pupils’ project work. We are a member school of the Arkwright Engineering Scholarship Scheme, and have enjoyed considerable success, with at least one Arkwright Scholarship awarded for several years.
