About SCIS
Representing and promoting independent schools
Established in 1978 to represent independent schools in Scotland, the Scottish Council of Independent Schools (SCIS) became a charitable company limited by guarantee in 1990.
The pages in this section of the website explain the role that SCIS fulfils in Scottish education - its objectives, the team who contribute to its success, what independent education means in practice, the support provided to member schools and the information service offered to parents, the public and the press.
