School Description

The Donaldson Trust is the National Body for Neurodiversity. We are experienced in supporting neurodivergent individuals, helping them to set their goals, dreams and ambitions.
 
Our focus on wellbeing, building confidence and improving self-esteem is embedded across all our services to support individuals to thrive and fulfil their potential.
 
Our Sensational Learning Centre supports neurodivergent children and young people who face challenges in traditional mainstream education settings. It is one of six Grant-aided schools in Scotland (GASS). Grant-aided schools are independent of local authorities but are supported financially by the Scottish Government.
 
Child-centred learning
Our Sensational Learning Centre provides all pupils with a person-centred approach, recognising the importance of tailored and flexible support to meet individual needs.
 
Pupils benefit from a small group setting where active and creative learning is aligned with the Curriculum for Excellence for Broad General Education, and for the Senior Phase, focusing on skills required for successful transition into adult life.
 
Space and resources
The Sensational Learning Centre provides pupils with a beautiful contemporary environment based in our Linlithgow campus in which to engage in a range of curriculum activities.
 
Technology is used throughout our learning spaces to assist communication and increase independence by facilitating access to a wide range of activities.
 
Highly skilled staff
We have a highly skilled team, attuned to individual learners and their wellbeing requirements.
 
Our multidisciplinary team offers a curriculum that includes therapeutic input and access to speech and language therapy support in school to further enhance confidence and social interaction.
 
We help to prepare children and young people to achieve their aspirations and goals through encouraging their interests and building their confidence.
