Event Description
We are delighted to welcome Madeleine Cavadias, Director of Enviroteam Services Ltd, to deliver this practical session on Legionella and water hygiene compliance in independent schools.
Designed for bursars, estates managers, facilities managers, health and safety leads, and those responsible for water hygiene compliance. The session will be a practical overview of Legionella and water hygiene compliance specifically for independent school estates, covering:
- Key responsibilities and compliance requirements – understanding the duties of the school and the Responsible Person, and what good compliance looks like in practice.
- Legionella Risk Assessments and Written Schemes – what schools should expect from these documents and how to ensure they remain relevant and up to date.
- Common compliance gaps across school estates – practical examples of issues we regularly see and how these can be addressed.
- Managing school holidays and low-use areas – including little-used outlets, flushing regimes and preparing buildings for reopening after extended periods of low occupancy.
- Higher-risk areas within schools – considerations for boarding accommodation, sports facilities, changing rooms, showers, TMVs and other higher-risk assets.
- Monitoring, record keeping and demonstrating compliance – what should be monitored, how records should be maintained and what schools should expect from their water hygiene contractor.
