- We welcome substitute delegates attending in your place at no additional cost.

Event Description
This programme supports teachers who are new to Middle Leadership roles, such as Head of Department or Faculty, helping them develop the skills, knowledge and confidence required to lead effectively within their school context.
Aims
- Build self-awareness and confidence as a leader
- Develop understanding of leadership theory and professional standards
- Strengthen leadership of teams, learning and improvement
- Develop skills in leading change and innovation
- Promote inclusive practice and equity for all learners
- Support progression to further leadership pathways
Aligned with the GTCS Standard for Middle Leadership, the programme enables participants to reflect on their strengths and identify next steps in their leadership journey. A pre-course self-reflection task will be provided.
Programme Overview
1 October – The Glasgow Academy
Strategic Leadership in Practice
Led by Alison Sefton, this session explores how to interpret and lead school strategic priorities through practical activities and discussion.
5 November – Edinburgh Academy
Dr Jill Berry
This session focuses on leading teams effectively, building strong relationships and developing confidence in leading change, including use of the GTCS Standard and self-evaluation tools.
Online sessions
Online webinars in October, January and March will extend and reinforce key themes.
Final Session – May
The programme concludes with an in-person day where participants present reflections on their leadership development and ‘Leading Change’ project.
