School Description

The Erskine Stewart Melville schools are a vibrant, friendly, family of schools, set in the heart of Edinburgh. The ESMS Junior School is a co-educational school set across two sites on each end of Ravelston Dykes. From our Partnership model Nursery to our Primary 7, we offer a first class, rounded education for ages 3 – 12, with a focus on wellbeing, outdoor learning, academic achievement and a vast co-curricular programme to capture the natural curiosity and enthusiasm of every child. We develop modest, confident young people who are ready to take the next step in their educational journey. At ESMS, we know that the foundations created at the Junior stage, are crucial to seeing children succeed in life. We take that responsibility very seriously, whilst still not forgetting that fun matters too!

From August 2026, ESMS becomes Erskine Stewart Melville, a fully co-educational school from Nursery to Sixth Form. The creation of one Junior School on the green Ravelston site will create an unrivalled Junior school in terms of space and facilities for giving our youngest children a head start in Science, Product Design, Food Technology, Art and so much more.
